Michigan was set to defrost this weekend and I was completely okay with it. I took the matching set out for a test run with Ashley of Lavender Lists this weekend and am hoping to re-wear it this weekend for my birthday if I decide to get wild and go out.

A Bit of Leopard

There’s no better feeling, at least for me, to have almost no plans during a weekend. I had a couple things going on including an indoors shoot for my friend (and gorgeous model) Ashley at her home. I asked her to throw a couple braids in my hair and we went to work.
I love photographing her and I finally got to check out her cool ass apartment. It’s right by our city market along the river downtown and there is so much natural light it kills me. I want to uproot my life from quaint neighborhood living to downtown. Which reminds me, I’ve been slowly attempting to transform my apartment so that I’m just as inspired at hers. My apartment was built in the 70s and actually has a lot of charm and has a decent amount of natural light, but the light fixtures are a bit dated and the linoleum in the kitchen is bleh. BUT, I’ve ordered new pieces of furniture and plan to update the light fixtures finally, 2.5 years later here.

Casual Weekends

Last Sunday began with a photoshoot for my absolute favorite boutique in town, Retail Therapy and we enlisted the beautifulness of model and fellow blogger Ashley to wear the clothing, and we took the photos at the boutique owner’s gorgeous home. Before we got started, we got a tour of her house from the intricate wallpaper, vintage details, stunning light fixtures to the flooring choices (think marble!) and fun furniture, it was so much to take in.
So needless to say, it was the perfect backdrop for photographing a few looks from her shop. I wore this but wandered around in just the tee and jeans since I overheat during photo shoots and layered back up for errands and entertaining my grandparents at home the rest of the day.

Culottes for Fall

I hate dress pants and when I have to dress up for work, I’ve been slowly finding comfortable, less stuffy versions of something I can wear if jeans won’t fly. Like these culottes feel like pajama pants, but I wore them to client meetings last week.

Weekend Away

Ten years ago, I introduced two of my single friends to each other because I loved them both so much and had an inkling they’d make a great match..well next weekend is their wedding (FINALLY!) and we celebrated my bestie’s bachelorette party all weekend long in Chicago. She felt a little under the weather, but was a real trooper and we spent the weekend eating and drinking. She picked a really great airbnb rental in Logan Square, in close proximity to a few of my favorite places like Stan’s Donuts in Wicker Park. The weekend ended with a visit to Merl’s shop, the SHUDIO and buying three hardy plants from  her to brighten my office space at work. A weekend well spent.
