All Things Go

2011Feb27_0113
For this outfit, I pulled together a lot of basics that add up to something a little more interesting than a typical all black ensemble I might typically reach for. I really only grabbed coffee in this outfit, but it spiced up my life that day.
I've been a little boring lately, perfectly content hanging out with myself watching movies and slowly beginning to pack for the move. It's as if my body wants to hibernate in preparation of the faster pace of life I'll have in Chicago. I can't wait to meet more and more people! And as much as I love being a slob living by myself, it might be nice to have a roommate again, especially since my roommate will be a dude--the gender I prefer to live with. This move is becoming more of a reality as I chat up my new roomie, Evan, on the phone to talk logistics and as I pack my spices and keurig k cups. Any advice on packing? I'm feeling overwhelmed already!

My keurig is the best thing I brought here to Chicago -- although going out for coffee here is also addicting.

I have moved a couple times now, and while I try and tell myself to pack according to room - do one room at a time, and break it up....I always seem to get into these manic states and become unable to stop myself from packing the whole apartment, haha.

I'm kind of surprised all of your hair can fit into that small bun! ;) I love the basics and solids here, with the fun shoes! You look amazing! Good luck with all of your packing and moving, I'll definitely let you know whenever I'm in Chicago (can't believe I've never been)!

I moved a few times over the last years, but as for advice I can only tell you what I've learned from the last time: don't pack away the salt too far (I searched for a whole week until I discovered it inside a tin, cooking was pretty challenging) and don't hesitate to call your friends and family for help. I thought I could do it all by myself last time and completely broke down during the move. Not a pretty sight. I'm lucky my parents insisted they'd come over or things would have gone completely out of hand.

Those boots are so fun! Anyway, as far as moving goes, make a list! It may sound silly, but it really helps. I've had to move a couple of times, and I wrote down every room I needed to pack and about how many boxes and of what size I would need, and what order I would pack everything in. It made life soooooo much easier and less stressful.

I love the lilac skirt paired with those leopard wedges, and I fully support getting all dolled up for a coffee run!

LABEL every box as detailed as possible, tape your remotes to your electronics- nothing more frustrating than not knowing where the tv or dvd remotes are!

Music helps with the process too... makes it more enjoyable.

I love the neutral blouse with your vibrant purple skirt. So exciting about the move! Chicago will be amazing I'm sure.

Yes to you and purple.

No great advice on packing. Label everything, stickies on the outside of boxes was always helpful for me. And hire movers. That helps, big time.

This outfit firmly reminds me of what a badass you are. Those BOOTIES! They're nuts in the coolest of ways. And the skirt is super flattering on you.

Re: moving: sounds like you're doing what I'd most advise, which is getting started early. Even if you just pack a few boxes a night, it helps make the last few days much less stressful. And don't be afraid to pay someone to help! I never do and I always regret it!

I love everything about this outfit. Especially the purple skirt! It's such a chic but edgy look.

This outfit is unexpected and awesome!!

The best advice I have for moving is to number your boxes and keep a detailed list of what is in each box by number. This is helpful with unpacking but also keeping track of each box during the move.

LOVE the outfit.

A question though: How come you prefer to live with males? I've never had a roomate before and I'm really curious.

Wow - I'm obsessed with this look. You look incredible. I love the bright purple skirt and leopard print wedges.
