Here’s a breakdown of the products and tools I rely on to style my super thick, coarse, wavy hair—now in a freshly chopped bob.
Hair Products
First and foremost, my all time favorite clarifying shampoo is the Ouai detox shampoo. I wash my hair like twice a week and I double shampoo so I use this every hair wash. For conditioners, I typically use Oribe gold lust repair and restore conditioner, perfect for dry, damaged hair.
The Kerastase elixir hair oil is the best for smoothing, shine and even heat protection. I bought the mini size and it’s lasting such a long time.
I also use the Amika detangling hair primer that also offers heat protection. This product makes my hair feel so smooth and I feel like this particular product is great for super thick and coarse hair. I probably wouldn’t recommend it for fine hair as it may weight it down.
Hair Tools
I figured out the perfect combo of tools for drying and blowing out my hair. I still use and love the Dyson hair dryer, but I recently bought the Shark flex style and I can blow dry my hair and use the round brush attachment for a smoother blowout style. I also use the auto wrap curlers for a bouncier 90s vibe.
I also just bought Revlon one step dryer and styler. I like this tool to keep smooth out the top layers of my hair and I use it at a reduced heat and it doesn’t blow as hard as the Shark so its easier to manage my hair and the frizz.
