Michigan road trips are my favorite in the summer. The state is so beautiful and my preference is to stay here all summer long when we have the perfect weather.
I’ll be heading to Traverse City for work and Hubbard Lake for fun this summer and here are my roadtrip essentials:
A Comfy, Stylish Road Trip Outfit
I love a loungewear matching set for travel and usually pair them with a comfy pair of sandals. For these trips, a larger tote or backpack is a must (like this nationals backpack in cream!) Bonus points for the style! I also pack an oversized denim jacket and an oversized cardigan for the drive.
Car Snacks
I keep car snacks in my vehicle at all times, but I step it up for long road trips. I get the chili cashews from Trader Joe’s and buy snack size chip bags because I love a classic bag of Lay’s. Beef Jerky and granola bars are also a must! I scoop these up at Trader Joe’s too.
Skincare & Beauty on the Go
My skincare and beauty routine on the road is extremely simplified. Some moisturizer and tinted SPF is really all I got time for, but it keeps my face moisturized, dewy and appearing even toned all while providing some sun protection in the car. I also pack body SPF to slather my arms and hands because those seem to be getting more sun in the car.
Dog Essentials
I always pack my dog car seat (plus an extra blanket) that both dogs climb into along with a travel dog bottle so I can reach over and give them a swig of water during the drive. I also highly recommend collapsible silicone bowls (I always keep one in my glove compartment.)
Motion Sickness Help
I pack Pepto Bismol and my prescription Zofran to help with any nausea, but the patches I mention in this travel post are incredibly helpful in deterring any travel nausea.
