Exploring Brooklyn in 4 Hours: Where to Eat & Shop

DSC_4190

Favorite Spots in Williamsburg

By the time Celeste and I had our free day to explore Brooklyn, we were already sore and tired from city living. I’m so used to driving my car even for a couple blocks that walking miles and miles was physically difficult. Pathetic, I know.

Anywho, we made the trek from Midtown to Williamsburg and survived four-ish hours–and made the most of our time before we called it quits and headed to dinner in SOHO. This area is a hot bed of vintage and indie shops and we mostly stuck to Bedford Ave., an area that seems to contain most of the shopping and restaurants. Read More »

How I Travel

I love traveling alone. I like reading books on planes and ignoring people, eating dinner by myself and having complete freedom to do whatever I want. I don’t require people interaction and honestly, it wears me out easily. And so when I do accept group travel and agree to a more social vacation, I do it in a way that works best for me. Florida & Bahamas Photo Diary

dsc_5430A much needed vacation and when it was over, it was a much anticipated return! I’m a routine bitch and don’t do well without my normal schedule, and lack of access to the internet. It was good to be disconnected for a couple days and truly enjoy the excursions in the Bahamas with my mom..but for real, happy to be back in the mitten!Processed with VSCO with s2 preset Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

These hammocks. So beautiful and serene, but I couldn’t sit still in them. I jumped in and out of them like a toddler before making my way to the beach to watch birds fight over crackers in the sand while simultaneously complaining about the heat.Processed with VSCO with s2 preset Processed with VSCO with t1 preset The best decision my cheap ass could make: a luxury sailing day. My mom and I hung out with four other couples on board and laid out in the sun, enjoyed mimosas and even snorkeled.

Traverse City Photo Diary

I made a trip to Northern Michigan for a work trip–one of our clients hosted their annual conference at the Grand Traverse Resort and while up there, I made my rounds to my favorite places including wineries, coffee shops and boutiques.

One of my favorite spots in Traverse City is the Little Fleet, a hot spot of food trucks parked outside a bar with great outdoor/indoor space. I hit up the taco truck with my friend Caitlin where I ordered deep fried avocado with chorizo tacos. Nom nom. It was a scorcher that day and sweat dripped as I ate my hot tacos.

I always make time to grab coffee or tea from BLK MRKT at the Warehouse if I’m nearby. I haven’t had a drink I didn’t completely love and everyone is incredibly friendly, especially the owner.

On my drive up, I took the route less traveled AKA I wanted a donut from the famous donut place and took a back road for an hour to finish my drive and stumbled upon this cute dive bar facade. I’d drink a busch light here.

On my second day up there, I took a day trip over to Leland by myself. I’ve been to this quaint town before but I don’t remember it ever being so busy. There was a quiet spot at this part of the bay before I headed for an iced almond latte from Blue Boat Coffee.

I forced Caitlin to visit two wineries with me. She lives in the area and admitted she had never, ever been to one! First stop was at Bonobo Winery. It’s rather new and such a beautiful space with a great view. Plus, Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse own it and I love those two. I spotted them the first time I was there and had hopes I might experience another Amy Smart sighting. I didn’t, but I did taste delicious riesling and make Caitlin take a million photos of me in this little nook.

Lastly, a few of top travel skin and beauty products. The tiny Clarisonic MIA FIT takes up no space and Dr. Brandt’s vitamin c serum keeps me feeling less dull on the road. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Laura Mercier’s loose powder and this Sephora powder brush. It holds up in the humidity and the Tarte blush stays pretty well too.

Santa Monica & Route 66

DSC_2253
The day before we left Vegas, we decided to take a day trip to LA so my mom could see the pacific ocean and started our drive at 2:45 a.m. and arrived in Malibu at 8:45 a.m., starting our day with an expensive ass breakfast at Malibu Farm, quite possibly the cutest cafe I’ve ever been to.
We then traveled down the Pacific Coast Highway to the Santa Monica pier and wandered along the beach and pier. So lovely. I’m not used to so much sunshine! We drove through Beverly Hills and Hollywood before heading back, hitting up a desolate area along Route 66. It was a long day in the car, but well worth it.
