Leather + Camel

IMG_3088
Kyle didn’t like this outfit and questioned it from the beginning. It was one of those “man repeller” looks that could only be appreciated by a girlfriend or fellow blogger, which is why it was a perfect for a day trip to Grand Rapids with Sam of Samantha Elizabeth. We’re planning a blogger meet up at Le Bon Macaron in Grand Rapids on November 22–so..if you’re interested, email me!

All the things

Well it’s starting to look and feel a lot like fall. I love it. For a day trip to Grand Rapids, I dressed in my most comfortable layers and headed out to drink good coffee and check out Art Prize with my friend Ashley. I bought myself this Proenza Schouler bag (HALF OFF NO LIE) a couple weeks ago too and it’s slowly becoming attached to my body.
We rushed to get to Le Bon Macaron where we immediately became obsessed with the pumpkin flavor and the iced vanilla latte. We indulged in more coffee at Rowster and then checked out a couple Art Prize venues before walking through the downtown market. What a lovely day.

Leather Flair

DSC_9967
I love the versatility of a black leather dress. From work to happy hour, my mind is brimming with ideas to get a lot of wears out of this. I styled it more casually last week to reflect my day-to-day style with a plaid shirt to cinch in the waist (and flats not shown). I can wear heels for like three minutes before my feet ache and I start complaining. I remember the days of roaming the streets in platform heels and wedges like this post, one of my favorites from 2011 in New York City. I can’t roll like that anymore.

Scene of the Crime

So this is what I was wearing when I experienced my first witness to a shooting. Kyle and I were snapping outfit photos outside of an old car wash on Memorial Day when we heard “POP POP POP!” Just half a block up the road, there were a couple guys shooting each other and so needless to say, the outfit photos were cut short. At least I wore the right shoes to run as fast as I could to my car.

Cold Weather Maxi

DSC_0337
I was just perusing the internet when I came across this gem of a maxi dress. I really wanted a basic maxi dress with long sleeves that I could easily style during these gloomy, ridiculously cold months ahead. And it was a steal at around $10! In basic winter fashion, I layered a leather jacket, an infinity scarf and paired it with my new buckled boots.
I wore this to meet for breakfast with Jackie Palmer, a local photographer/videographer to chat about a film idea she has for me (!!). I normally shy away from videos because I hate talking on camera. This was a hard discovery for me in college since I always thought I was destined for broadcast journalism, but I’m no natural. I end up swearing, stuttering and my eyes bounce all over the place. Luckily, Jackie has some great ideas that don’t involve me talking at all and I’m pumped to try something new and work with someone as creative as Jackie.
