The SHUDIO Grand Reopening

The SHUDIO’s New Space!

No matter how much I hate the city of Chicago, it can’t keep me from supporting Merl’s shop grand re-opening. Merl moved her shop the SHUDIO down the street in Pilsen to a much larger space with a much larger studio area for her jewelry making. She put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into transforming the space and I headed down to help with tasks like sweeping and vacuuming, anything to help her meet her deadline of opening the shop last Friday at 6 p.m. Read More »

Weekend Away

Ten years ago, I introduced two of my single friends to each other because I loved them both so much and had an inkling they’d make a great match..well next weekend is their wedding (FINALLY!) and we celebrated my bestie’s bachelorette party all weekend long in Chicago. She felt a little under the weather, but was a real trooper and we spent the weekend eating and drinking. She picked a really great airbnb rental in Logan Square, in close proximity to a few of my favorite places like Stan’s Donuts in Wicker Park. The weekend ended with a visit to Merl’s shop, the SHUDIO and buying three hardy plants from  her to brighten my office space at work. A weekend well spent.

Michigan Ave

I changed many times over the course of the weekend in Chicago. I’m not usually so indecisive or fussy with clothing (fussy over many other things, but not what I’m wearing.) I’ve determined it’s because I kept trying to balance comfort with not looking totally drab while being surrounded by stylish blogger people the entire weekend. I’m used to spending my free time on the couch in leggings covered in dog fur.

Sam and I headed to the Birchbox pop up early on Friday and hit some shops on Michigan. I picked up a pair of faux leather culottes from Zara and a delicious cheeseburger from M Burger before making our way back to the hotel and Merl’s retail shop, the Shudio. I love her aesthetic and could hang out in her shop all day, especially when a pup named Judy arrived. I bought a pair of dad jean levi’s for myself from Rawson and a necklace from Merl’s new collection
