Brought this tee and some realizations back from Dallas last week. I already got a grease stain on the front of the tee thanks to beef sandwich I ate while driving, but as I drove to my hometown for Labor Day, I started to notice just how tired and broken everything looked in comparison to Dallas. Everything in Dallas is so fresh and new and I can’t help but wonder if these areas in Michigan I live in and frequent were once that vibrant. So much economic development and new headquarters for international companies popping up everywhere there, but maybe too much? I love the history and the charm we get here in Michigan or even vacant corner stores like this one. These are my favorite little stores in small towns and this is the one I grew up walking to in order to return cans and buy pixie sticks, rent VHS tapes and buy hot cheetos. I don’t need brand new everything, just some liveliness injected back into some of these towns.
