Honey in the Sun

I’ve emerged from hibernation! Saturday’s weather called for beer and bacon out on a patio at my friend’s. For a couple hours, we just kicked back and did absolutely nothing but sit in the sun until I forced him to take my outfit pictures. I’m lucky I’ve got great friends without photography experience that are always willing to learn and help me out.
Since I’m perpetually cold, I layered up with a light camo jacket over a pair of cut-offs and a striped tee. That morning, I experimented with temporary hair dye and this is what I came up with. It washed out super easy too! I’m excited to try a few more colors this summer.

East Side

In this last week, I’ve seen my fair share of snow. SNOW. To my delight, last Sunday was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and a little more warmth, which called for a celebration including the crispiest of bacon and cinnamon pancakes, made by yours truly. I even braided my hair.
I headed out to the Detroit area for some light shopping and tacos with my friend Erin. I opted for the canadian tuxedo look layered with a colorful light jacket, basically my daily after-work uniform.

My friend Erin and I ended up sharing the jacket since she got cold and blamed it on me for telling her it was too warm for her to bring her own coat! She looked cute.

I’ve been a crabby little troll this past week, seeking shelter from rain and people. This is what happens to me when it rains constantly, making my migraines intensify. I even had to bring myself to the ER last week because of the pain, where I was surrounded by hot male nurses and doctors. Of course this only happens to me when I’m on the brink of death or at least just look like it!
The upside to last week was spending time with my friend Liz at my favorite place to shop, Somerset mall, where I was able to shop away my stresses, bringing forth a new pair of striped pants to my closet along with this tee shirt that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of.

To the Max

My favorite thing about blogging is having a non-creepy way to meet people off the internet. I’ve made some really good friends through blogging and last weekend, I got to meet Rachel of Da Paura, a San Diego transplant new to Chicago. We grabbed breakfast and mimosas at West Town Bakery before I drove back to the mitten.
I’ve been over-wearing this leather jacket, but it just seems to go perfect with any outfit. I really wanted to wear something comfortable for binge eating pancakes and a flowy maxi paired with the jacket just made the most sense, plus the maxi is brand new and anything I buy, I must immediately wear.

After shooting pictures for Merl’s lookbook and eating a bag of dessert mints for breakfast, I headed to my friend Courtney’s neighborhood for lunch at an Irish pub and to steal some cuddles from her dog, Molly. This dog is like a little person I swear. She loves to be held and she wraps her little paws around your neck and gives you a legit hug.
For whatever reason, I really enjoy hanging out in the city by myself and made my way downtown for some shopping. I powerwalked up and down State Street and found a leopard print maxi at H&M AND successfully avoided Magnolia Bakery’s cupcakes. That night, I laughed myself into physical pain thanks to Merl and Karyn. All in all, a really fun Saturday.
