Birthday Wear

Turning 27 wasn’t the most exciting thing to happen to me this year. It seems just like yesterday I was excited to turn 17 and sneak out to a college party. And now, I go to bed at 9:30 p.m. and get excited about buffets and new episodes of Downton Abbey. Luckily, my friends were sweet and planned dinner at an italian restaurant to celebrate my birthday, followed by a trip to Sugar Berry for some frozen yogurt. It was the perfect low-key night and I was able to easily transition this outfit from work to birthday festivities.
I picked up these pants during the Zara sale in Las Vegas and couldn’t be more happy that I rolled the dice and waited for them to go on sale and still be available in my size. I’ve also been wearing this Claire Verity hat nonstop. It’s been so cold and I’ve neglected to color my roots that it’s been serving a dual purpose!

Ouidad Valentine’s Day Style

For a more romantic Valentine’s date look, Dani from Ouidad created a soft updo while utilizing the natural texture of my hair. I never thought I could pull off an updo, but I was pleasantly surprised with what Dani, armed with Ouidad products, could do and how little time it could take. I have haunting memories of crunchy, over-styled hair from my junior high dance days and this is soft, easy and simple.
I wore a floral babydoll dress paired with pink heels and cream cape. It’s feminine, fun and taps the romantic side of me, which may only come out on Valentine’s Day.

Day Trip to Cali

I flew to Las Vegas this past week to rendezvous with two of my childhood friends, Courtney and Melissa and last Monday, we made a day trip to Laguna Beach and LA. We didn’t have many plans set, but to sightsee, eat and shop. I wore my standard outfit: an emerald tee, leather jacket and boots combo. And of course, leopard print.

Living in the midwest, It’s not often I get to see mountains and you can imagine how excited I was to see them throughout Vegas and the West Coast.

Snow Day

Despite the cold and snow, it was time to wear something a bit whimsy to work and sacrifice my body heat. All the older ladies  at the office went crazy for the skirt as I knew they would. Sometimes, it’s nice to trade in the black pants and boots for a pretty skirt and cardigan.

Black & White

It’s been so so cold that sweaters, maxi skirts and furry sleeved coats with boots may as well become my winter uniform. I’m ready to trade in this -2 degree weather for 70 degrees and sunny. Just five more days until my mini vacation to Vegas where I can finally unthaw.
I first styled this mullet sweater last April (see here) and this time, I paired it with an old maxi skirt and boots, completely winterized!
