My friends and I have been loosely planning weekly “girl’s nights” so far this summer, taking us across town to various restaurant patios and homes. It’s delightful.
I wore this on Monday for this week’s girl’s night for hot dogs at my friend’s home. Never one to turn down a hot dog dinner, I styled a high-low skirt, crop top and my new statement necklace to properly enjoy the evening and also celebrate the lease signing of my new, much charming apartment.

I spent some quality time with my mom last week, visiting with her and the dogs on the back deck learning about how she couldn’t get the baby horse gelded quite yet and her troubles with finding the right priced hay. Hobby farm problems.
For a trip back home to visit family, easy and simple is key. And it was a hot day, so I pulled my hair back, ditched the bra and ventured out for ice cream.

Nothing like leather shorts on a Sunday afternoon. Last Sunday, I ran like 567 errands followed by a nap on my couch and catching up on last season’s True Blood. Very productive.
I styled the shorts with a loose cotton tee, wedge sneakers and a bright fringe clutch, an outfit that’s totally me, even down to the haggard hair.

A Summer Thing

Last Friday night called for a light summer dress for my favorite festivities: dinner and drinks on a patio. I’m basically a bum in the summer, floating from one patio to the next, eating burgers and drinking beers. I took it easy this weekend, caught up on errands and spent some time poolside and exploring one of the local farmer’s markets.
The highlight of my weekend? Discovering the candy section of this farmer’s market where buttermints and other treats were plentiful and I even picked up spicy homemade noodles, cheese from a farm near my hometown and cookies. You know the feeling when you go to Ikea for the first time and you’re unprepared and you feel overwhelmed by all the things you want? That’s how I felt here. Gotta go back this week with a list, a pair of flats, and get more cheese!

Just got my new Nokia phone! Woo! It’s a pretty awesome phone and I’m still figuring out all of its capabilities. Stay tuned for a review!

stripes + cobalt

I love when I dig into my closet and rediscover something awesome I forgot about like this pleated skirt. I’ve worn it maybe twice and I realized it would be the perfect skirt to wear with a little cropped top on a hot, humid day. I added a denim vest and simple heels, perfect outfit to hit up the Victoria’s Secret semi-annual sale and dinner with friends.
