Weekend Wears

Summers in Michigan for me mean weekend getaways to the west side of the state. An hour and a half drive and I find myself at Lake Michigan, a lovely place to be when you’re landlocked during the week.
For weekend travels, I prefer to pack light which means wearing remixing items. One of the best examples of this are the grey shorts in the right photo. I’ve been wearing them to the gym, to bed and during the day. I’m wearing the outfit on the right for the drive up to Grand Rapids today and I’ve packed the bright outfit on the left since I’m hoping to sneak in at least one workout at the hotel gym this weekend.
Now, I never wear this much color normally, but when it comes to workouts, I like the idea of wearing bright colors and bold prints. I call this my watermelon outfit with the lime green capris and pink sports bra. I swear on all the fitness gods, these green capris are the best thing that have happened to my life. They’re super soft, comfortable and fit well.
Like I said, I’ve been wearing these shorts nonstop. It’s been a bit cooler this week, which means i can layer for a couple days, including my favorite leather jacket.

Fitness with Kohl’s

There’s nothing more motivating for working out than feeling good in my gym outfit, especially in the summer when I’d much rather be sipping a mimosa on a patio or eating a burger on my deck. I just don’t want to work out when it’s nice and sunny and warm out! For this reason, I’ve gone on a hunt for lightweight shorts and breathable tops that are versatile, but still cute.
I shopped this outfit from Kohl’s. They sent a $100 gift card for an outfit and accessories and I go to Kohl’s pretty often, but never thought to take a look at the fitness apparel. I found this hoodie tank in the junior’s section while the mint green sports bra and running shorts came from the women’s section. I’m pretty much obsessed with this workout outfit and the day I picked it up I wore it to my two fitness classes.

Things I Like

Last week’s workout essentials: New headphones and workout outfit (outfit post with this gear coming up next week!) with my favorite deoderant and Jergen’s natural glow lotion gifted from Meijer and Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer. I use this tinted moisturizer everyday as my foundation, it’s light and it matches my skin perfectly and is light enough to keep on during workouts.
Even though he still poops in the house and chews on my underwear, I still like James and cuddle with him everyday.
My hair has been kind of a mess and super brassy lately. I just got a haircut, but before I figure out what I want to do with my hair color next, I wanted to tone down the brassy roots. Shu Uemura Color Lustre isn’t a miracle product, but it works a hell of a lot better than other purple shampoos I’ve tried.

Bachelorette Party Style: Nighttime Shenanigans

I’m kind of the wet blanket of the group when it comes to bachelorette parties. I’m always the first to get tired and leave and I can never quite get buzzed enough to let completely loose. I do however, take a lot of pride in my bachelorette party style as its one of the few opportunities I force myself to part from my jeans, basically my second skin.

For this particular bachelorette party, I styled a day look for wine tasting and this is what I wore for dinner and drinks. I wanted to wear something sexier, but also breathable and interesting. I love the neckline and the embroidery down the front. It didn’t take much effort to style, just black heels and a black bag.
