Cute Stuff

The last couple weeks have been stressful AF. I’m just weeks away from being done with my master’s  program and I’ve told myself I gotta say no to more things and do whatever I want. In the spirit of fun and doing what I want, I’ll share a handful of photos from the last month where I took the time to chill!
Ever since my first micro-needling skin treatment, I’ve become more intrigued with beauty products and properly painting my face. My skin is in better shape and it deserves better products and techniques, so I was happy to receive the Zoeva brush set. I’ve been slowly investing in a few great brushes, but this set completes me! A good brush makes all the difference in application, especially love the highlighter brush paired with Tarte’s skin twinkler lightening palette that I bought on a whim from Sephora and instantly loved it and read great reviews on.
When I took some time to relax two weeks ago, it involved dressing my dog up in a pink party hat and posing near the window for optimal light. His precious little face makes me happy!
Ice cream cones with Hannah and James a few weeks ago! I was snapping some photos for a job with Meijer and a few outtakes I love–like James trying to sneak a taste of Hannah’s ice cream.

Celebrating Mother’s Day

I celebrated Mother’s Day a little early with my mom and grandma. They each got to choose a gorgeous watch from Obaku and they tolerated me taking a few photos of them. This was a few weeks back at my mom’s and I photographed her in her element: out back with the horses. Indy is her little baby!
To be honest, we didn’t have the best relationship growing up and once I moved on to college, it became a lot easier. I was so resentful and could only focus on the past, the things I couldn’t change. Once I moved away, I felt more in control of my own life and could make my own decisions, things that made me happier and allowed my mom and I to have a better relationship. Now, she’s pretty much the only person I want to travel with and I call her at least once a day to bug her. We’re heading to Nashville in a few weeks to be old ladies together like visiting the zoo on a non-weekend day to avoid children, go to bed by 9 p.m., be up by 6 a.m. and eat all the food.
My grandma, Cecilia, is such a beautiful and strong woman. She and my grandpa visited a couple weeks ago and I surprised her with an Obaku watch that she just loved.  Don’t let her soft look fool you. My grandma is someone you just don’t fuck with. I respect her tenacity, independence and most importantly, her constant support whether I was venturing off to MSU as a first-generation college student or making career mistakes–she’s there for me no matter what.
Thank you Obaku for offering a watch to my mom and grandma, they love them!

I’m also offering up a $25 Meijer gift card to a reader. To enter, simply comment on the post with your email by May 7.

I’ve been obsessed with matte lipsticks and I love this formula by Maybelline in the first image. It glides on smoothly and feels more hydrating, unlike a few formulas I’ve tested recently. I’m also a fan of Neutrogena’s hydro boost water gel, with and without sunscreen. My skin is sensitive to moisturizers and this line doesn’t flare up my acne.
Now that the weather has warmed and the flowers have bloomed, I’m ready to smell sweet and tropical. I go between Dial’s coconut water body wash now and Dove.
I’m also ready for humidity with Schwartzkopf’s frizz control and protect line. Meijer carries professional hair products like Schwarzkopf and my absolute favorite, Biolage.
