Sunshine

The temperature dwindled this week, giving me another and hopefully, my last opportunity to layer and add a faux fur vest. They are just so cozy. I bought a clothing steamer so I could finally wear this silk button up that has been wrinkled up in my closet for months and probably just needs to go to the dry cleaner's, but now with this magical steamer, I easily removed the wrinkles. It's been changing my life the last couple weeks.

In other news, I'm counting down the days until my trip to San Francisco at the end of April! I'm headed out there the day after a large event I'm planning so it will be the perfect time to de-stress by overeating and shopping with my friend Melissa. Any suggestions for restaurants, bars, boutiques, etc?

Circus

I wore this in Austin a couple weekends ago! I felt like I could have been mistaken for a circus performer on stilts. When I picked up these pants from Zara, I instantly knew I wanted to pair a hot pink cropped top and started and ended my search at American Apparel. I just love when I can wear a more loud outfit and feel so comfortable. I was basically parading around in pajamas that day. I need more pants like this.

Wind & Sun

For me, I have two seasons. Big hair season and smaller hair season. You can easily guess by these photos which season I'm entering into. 

A wedding brought me to Chicago this past weekend, which I was photographing at a gorgeous downtown hotel on St. Patrick's Day. I'm unbelievably sore from it, but it was probably one of the most fun weddings I've photographed. I think every single person danced and everyone was incredibly attractive. I felt like I was at a model casting call. I spent Sunday recovering by visiting a handful of my closest friends and doing a little shopping. Karyn, Merl and I went to a vintage seller's home and I picked up this pretty embroidered cropped jacket and then we headed downtown where I was on the hunt for a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, which I can thank Delta Airlines for since they screwed up my flight and in return, they cut me a nice..and unexpected check.

River Walk

It's been so warm and sunny, I don't feel like i'm in the midwest. Except when I look at the trees and everything is still dull and lifeless. I'm just making sure to take full advantage of this unseasonably enjoyable weather by sipping beers out on patios, taking walks with friends and by wearing dresses without tights or nylons, my favorite. Besides a stressful time between 8-5 at work, this week has been a blast! I'm crossing my fingers the wedding I'm shooting this weekend will be smooth sailing and the weather will cooperate.

As far as my outfit goes, I've always loved baby doll style dresses and I just adore this more grown up version of such a sweet dress. For work, I styled this with sheer nylons and a leather jacket to cover up the tat and after work, I tore off the nylons and traded in my everyday satchel for a studded clutch to head downtown.

Texas Style Council

Merl Kinzie and Kirsten of Triple Max Tons

Last Saturday, the Texas Style Council kicked off for me with the breakfast mentoring where Merl of Merl Kinzie and I spoke about maintaining individuality with blogging. Basically, various "speakers" were stationed throughout the venue and people could wander up and chat with them on their topic or anything else they may have had questions about. It was an easier and more comfortable way for bloggers to connect with each other. 
Overall, I liked the way this conference was positioned. It didn't promote full-time professional blogging as everyone's ultimate goal to achieve, because not everyone wants that. I think many bloggers feel the pressure of taking it to the next level, which is assumed the next level is professional blogging. But it's not for everyone and we all have different goals and dreams, as Kendi of Kendi Everyday had said during her keynote. I met a lot of other girls who have both awesome careers and balance blogging like Sara of And She Loved who's a scientist! It was really a great experience to meet bloggers who were so down to earth and that I could relate to.

Since I was so close to two of very good friends, Haley and Kyle, who live in Houston, they drove down to visit me and I just miss the two of them. It's rare you can hang out with another couple and not feel like the awkward third wheel, but I never feel like that with the two of them! Between Texas Style Council events, I spent the day shopping and eating with them.

At the Poshmark Party that night, I hosted the Bonlook pop up shop with Melanie from Bonlook. Since I'm not naturally a good walk-up-to-new-people-and-make-friends kind of person, I had a reason to be a more outgoing version of myself since I was excited to get people in Bonlook glasses and meet new bloggers and readers. I was pooped by the end of the night, but it was worth it and I had a really fun time.

In Austin

I flew to Texas for a weekend of fun and not so much sun for the Texas Style Council and a smattering of SXSW parties last week and even though I was a whiny pants due to the weather and my many, many flight issues, I had a great time meeting new girls and reconnecting with old friends in a more casual atmosphere of Austin, Texas. 

I had other ideas for what I might wear to the conference but due to a combination of cooler weather and knowing I had to rush off to the airport brought me back to my favorite jeans, a simple sheer peter pan collared top and a little punch of excitement with a fun platform wedge, per usual. It was understated and comfortable.
