Free Fallin’

It’s been awhile since I shimmied into a mini skirt, but I love the print and the color and had to wear it. I used to style miniskirts with loose tops tucked in or anything a little scandalous, but this to me is a little more grown up and makes it more age appropriate for this old lady.

All American

My outfit doesn’t get more American than this with the patriotic colors, galloping horse sweater and jean jacket. I also have that country music star hair which further qualifies me as ‘murican. I wore this outfit two consecutive days this past weekend, from my Friday workday outfit to my Saturday trip to Chicago. It makes overnight stays very easy to pack for!
You’ll also notice straight hair–something I don’t have very often since my days of college. I used to always, always straighten my hair in high school and the beginning of college, but as I grow older, I just don’t feel like doing it. At least now, I’ve found a very simple solution to when I want my hair to be more manageable. It’s an hour and $78 away from a stylist named Michelle who I took a chance on. Bless her heart.

I’m obsessed with this Daniel Wellington watch and my Jewelmint gold reef ring!

When contemplating what to wear to an all day video shoot for work, I decided a pair of my favorite jeans, men’s sweatshirt, boots and a bad ass leather jacket would be the best in terms of comfort and pretending to have authority. This also worked well for a long drive up to northern Michigan for a weekend-long bachelorette party.
Like this jacket? I about shit my pants when my friend Courtney told me about this discount code for 70 percent off a bunch of brands at Isaay and I scooped up this leather jacket that I couldn’t otherwise afford and a pair of heels. Woohoo!

Looking Back

I dry cleaned this skirt recently and remembered I had it in my closet. I bought it three years ago and I had a good laugh looking at Chictopia to see how I styled it back in 2009. Click here to see. Going through old blog posts, Chictopia and photos give me a good chuckle. It’s like looking back on my junior high year book–filled with awkwardness.
