A neutral dress and Christian Siriano

DSC_3730
I wore this to work on Tuesday and since it was such a neutral, simple outfit, I added some fun accessories to spice it up!
That night, I attended Conversations in the Arts, hosted by Columbia College Chicago where Christian Siriano, was speaking. He was the season four winner of Project Runway and has been my favorite designer to emerge from the show because of his talent, design aesthetic and larger than life personality. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s inspirational to see someone so young succeed early on in a career, no matter what industry, but especially the fashion industry. He was a hoot to listen to and I wanted to steal his cute outfit and wear it myself.

I Bring the Spring

DSC_3115
Since Spring is slow on its arrival, I put together a bright, colorful ensemble last week. Instead of continuing to harbor these violent thoughts against mother nature, I chose a more positive approach: dress in happy colors. We also shot most of this outfit using a wide angle lens. Typically, I prefer to share flattering photos of myself with readers, but considering I was already donned in horizontal stripes, I thought it couldn’t do much damage.

Amy

DSC_2697
Hey everyone, meet Amy of Chicago Streetstyle! I met her on Sunday and we had a lot in common as we both went to Michigan State University, graduated the same year, have a handful of friends in common and of course, both have fashion/personal style related blogs and enjoy photography. Hers is focused on streetstyle and I coaxed her into hopping on the other side of the lens. I just loved her style and I wanted to steal this whole outfit. It’s nice to meet people and make friends so soon after moving here!

Karyn & Modern Vintage Expo

DSC_2665
When Tieka and I were perusing the booths at Modern Vintage on Saturday, we came across our favorite booth, Dethrose Vintage and I saw this gorgeous girl running around and I was in complete awe of her beauty and style, that I tapped her on her shoulder and asked if I could take a few photos of her. Karyn was so easy to photograph and was such a natural, Tieka and I knew she must also be a style blogger. So check out her out at her blog, Dethrose Vintage!

Below is Molly who I met at one of the Urban Outfitters in Lincoln Park. She met Tieka before and we happened to run into her at the new store she manages. I just loved how she styled her hair! After she mentioned her love of cupcakes and ice cream, I knew she was a kindred spirit.

Naturally, Tieka and I ended our day at Molly’s Cupcakes. She had done a photoshoot there before and I can see why, the inside of the place is incredibly cute and quaint. And nothing is better than a cookie dough stuffed cupcake, I swear.
